  • Who Am I?

Yo! My name is Robbie. Join me as I fumble through this blog thing and rattle on about games and stuff that I like!

I don’t feel like there are many gamers out there with my kind of tastes – at least it feels that way most of the time – so I’m starting this page in hopes of finding others out there, who like me, have strange kinda tastes.

This is going to be interesting.

So, if you’ve somehow found yourself here, then I hope you manage to dig A Certain Kind of Gamer.

FOUR Forgotten SEGA SATURN Arcade Racers You Might Just Dig.

If you’re a hardcore SEGA Saturn racing fan, like me, then chances are you’ve at least heard of the games I’m about to show you. No, they’re not all gems, and some of them are legitimately terrible. But I am prone to indulging that nagging morbid curiosity from time to time, so here’s a bunch of some good, some not Saturn Racers that not a whole lot of people talk about these days. For various reasons.

Playstation 2 Trash – SHOVELWARE to AVOID. Or Not… OOOH MYSTERY!

January 30, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

Shovelware!

If your platform is selling gang-busters, then expect the shovelware to start flooding the system in no time at all! The Playstation 2 definitely did well – and there is a veritable RUBBISH TIP worth of the stuff on the system.

So, I found a box of PS2 games in my wardrobe the other day, and I was immediately drawn to the cheap cover art that some of the games exhibited. When did I buy all this trash? I cannot for the life of me remember.

So I dug out the old PS2 Slim, set-up my XRGB-Mini, and proceeded to make my way through them, game by game, taking video and snapping screenshots along the way.

And lucky you, yes you right there! You get to suffer through them with me!

Bring a sick bag!

8 GAMES To Play RIGHT NOW On The, Uh, PICO-8 Fantasy Console!

See what I did there? Of course you did.

Do you like 8-bit games? How about 8-bit computing? What if I threw ‘indie games’ in there as well? Did I mention that the PICO-8 library is FREE?

No?

I have now.

GAMING ON THE GO – Neo Geo Pocket Color + Game Boy.

January 10, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

Ahh, gaming and travelling. I used to lug around my Atari Lynx as a kid, all edgy and anti-hivemind, but as much as I loved that 30 minutes of gaming time in the car, its insatiable appetite for AA batteries stung. And it’s something that, sadly, makes it completely impractical to travel with here in 2018.

What does this intrepid blogger take with him? The Nintendo Switch is a given, but it’s also the boring answer. And besides, the title of this post doesn’t even mention the Switch, so there’s that.

Here’s two classic – and fairly practical – systems I always take with me, along with a bunch of games I can’t bring myself to leave at home.

COOL GAMES I’ve been playing – and you might just dig them too.

At times, it seems like there is way too much out there to play.

Just how do you decide on what games you’re going to invest some time into? Well, if you are the slightest bit like me, then you’ll be playing ALL THE GAMES – I chop and change between games like I do underwear in summer.

5 MEGA DRIVE GAMES with that AMIGA kinda flavour.

January 6, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

As a kid, I loved nothing more than convincing my neighbour to let me play their Amiga 500.

Ok, I’m sure there were things I loved more than that, but you see what I’m getting at.

The small amount of time I spent with the classic PC left me wanting more, and luckily, I didn’t have to look too far to get my fix. The Amiga was, obviously, quite the success in Europe, and although I’m not too sure how it fared here in Australia, I’d be willing to bet it was popular enough.

At least using the old “I knew tonnes of people with one” litmus test.
