  • Who Am I?

Yo! My name is Robbie. Join me as I fumble through this blog thing and rattle on about games and stuff that I like!

I don’t feel like there are many gamers out there with my kind of tastes – at least it feels that way most of the time – so I’m starting this page in hopes of finding others out there, who like me, have strange kinda tastes.

This is going to be interesting.

So, if you’ve somehow found yourself here, then I hope you manage to dig A Certain Kind of Gamer.

E3 2018 Highlights & Games To Play While Waiting: CYBERPUNK 2077 // SONIC TEAM RACING // MONSTER BOY & THE CURSED KINGDOM + MORE

So, E3 2018 is done and dusted. I’ve been soaking in the information the last week, as I’m sure almost every one have done, too.

In all honestly, I haven’t been entirely floored with everything I’ve come across, because I tend to prefer smaller-scale, niche games over the AAA stuff, but of course, there are exceptions! I like my single-player stuff, racing games, and retro-styled experiences, and there were a few things this year that tickled my fancy.

A few games, though, I’m super-excited for. So excited, in fact, that I need games to fill the wait. And I’ll get to those in a bit. But before I do, here are some games coming up on the horizon that really got me pumped:

Tänzer: NEW Mega Drive Game Kickstarter + More NEW Games For SEGA’s 16-Bit Wonder !!!

May 29, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

Capture

It seems we can’t go a month or two without a new Mega Drive/Genesis game being announced via a Kickstarter campaign. Which is crazy. Because it’s 2018. I’m not one to look a gift-horse in the mouth though – I adore my SEGA Mega Drive, perhaps more now than I ever did back in the day, and I’ll take whatever I can get.

Provided it looks promising enough.

I woke up the other morning, and did my usual thing.

Morning coffee. My email. My forums. Indie Retro News.

Right there at the top of the page was news of a new Mega Drive Kickstarter for a game called Tänzer. Check out this trailer:

PSYTRONIK SOFTWARE – STEEL RANGER

February 1, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

I’ll be taking a look at each of the brand-new Psytronik Software Commodore 64 games in time, but I’m starting here, with what is quite possibly my favourite game of 2018 so far – Steel Ranger.

Developed entirely by Lasse Öörni and published by Psytronik Software.

Get Steel Ranger HERE!!!

The Commodore 64 is one of those systems that I have always coveted from afar. Well, kinda. As a kid, a neighbour of mine had one, and I relished every chance I got to play it. I did have a VIC-20, and I loved that thing, but it mysteriously disappeared a few weeks before I got my first Mega Drive for Christmas…

5 MEGA DRIVE GAMES with that AMIGA kinda flavour.

January 6, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

As a kid, I loved nothing more than convincing my neighbour to let me play their Amiga 500.

Ok, I’m sure there were things I loved more than that, but you see what I’m getting at.

The small amount of time I spent with the classic PC left me wanting more, and luckily, I didn’t have to look too far to get my fix. The Amiga was, obviously, quite the success in Europe, and although I’m not too sure how it fared here in Australia, I’d be willing to bet it was popular enough.

At least using the old “I knew tonnes of people with one” litmus test.
