  • Who Am I?

Yo! My name is Robbie. Join me as I fumble through this blog thing and rattle on about games and stuff that I like!

I don’t feel like there are many gamers out there with my kind of tastes – at least it feels that way most of the time – so I’m starting this page in hopes of finding others out there, who like me, have strange kinda tastes.

This is going to be interesting.

So, if you’ve somehow found yourself here, then I hope you manage to dig A Certain Kind of Gamer.

88 HEROES + ZERO GUNNER 2 For SWITCH // Site Changes & ALL-NEW Jukebox!

January 25, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

So it’s a shorter blog today.

As you can see, I’ve been rather busy rearranging the site to be a little bit more attractive and interactive. It’s not looking amazing or anything yet, but I’ll get there in the end! Better to tweak and make changes now, and take advantage of the low site traffic. If there’s one advantage to being new, for me, it’s that.

I’ve also seen fit to include the all-new Jukebox that you see on the right hand side there! Until I sort it out, it’s only viewable on a desktop or in desktop mode on your mobile browser of choice. I’ll be changing up the music tracks every week or so, but if you’re a fan of 90s Redbook Audio, Synthwave and Arranged stuff, then you’ll be wanting to keep an eye on it for sure 😉

WATER-BASED Arcade Racers – The Notable RANKED From KILLER To TRASH.

If there’s one racing sub-genre that is sorely under-represented these days, it’s the water-based arcade racer. When done right, it’s all blue-skies, even bluer water and wave-hopping fun. There’s just something about the aesthetics of these games that I love. It’s all in the colours, the undulating clear waters, the music and the ride. A good water racer will offer stunning visuals, great physics and a one-of-a-kind of racing experience that’ll stick with you a long time.

Retro PICK UPS and PLAY – THE GAMING HAUL. Bite-sized Edition.

January 11, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

So it’s a bit of a different post today. I was out and about adulting, so I came up a little short on time. And as such, my planned SEGA Rally 3 TeknoParrot PC Tutorial will have to wait until tomorrow. *sniff*

But whilst I was out, I did manage to make time to check in at a local second-hand store to see what they had in stock. I went in there with Game Boy on the brain – I put that down to all the words I wrote about portable gaming yesterday.

GAMING ON THE GO – Neo Geo Pocket Color + Game Boy.

January 10, 2018 · by akumajobelmont

Ahh, gaming and travelling. I used to lug around my Atari Lynx as a kid, all edgy and anti-hivemind, but as much as I loved that 30 minutes of gaming time in the car, its insatiable appetite for AA batteries stung. And it’s something that, sadly, makes it completely impractical to travel with here in 2018.

What does this intrepid blogger take with him? The Nintendo Switch is a given, but it’s also the boring answer. And besides, the title of this post doesn’t even mention the Switch, so there’s that.

Here’s two classic – and fairly practical – systems I always take with me, along with a bunch of games I can’t bring myself to leave at home.
